PRESENTING CHARLIE BREAR'S FRIDAY BRIDE #19 (11/03/2016)
DREAMING IN LACE...
We love when brides take advantage of the Charlie Brear Bridal Additions range's versatility, transforming their looks from day to night, ceremony to party time!
Anna wore a CB favourite, our overdress in delicate, floral Voulaire lace over our matching strapless dress for her marriage ceremony to Dave. She then switched up her look, swapping her overdress for a lace top, and sashing it in at the waist to create a pretty peplum detail.

Describe the style of your wedding:
A relaxed, quirky and rustic country house affair. Our wedding had a soft colour palette of pale greens, greys and soft pinks and the rustic feel was echoed in our hand-tied flower bouquets and log centre pieces for the tables.
What was your best experience when trying on dresses?
The best experience was finding Charlie Brear dresses at the lovely Lola Bridal in Northampton. I knew that I wanted a couple of different 'looks' for the day and wasn't sure how I was going to achieve that without buying more than one dress! The ladies at Lola suggested Charlie Brear dresses and with her gorgeous separates, I was actually able to achieve three different 'looks'!
How did he propose?
We were actually in Malcesine, Lake Garda in Italy for another friends wedding when my husband proposed! (He had checked it was ok with the bride and groom beforehand!) A couple of days before their wedding we took a walk up to a Madonna statue that overlooked the whole town and he got down in one knee as the sun was setting!
He had already picked out the ring from an antique shop. A 120 year old trilogy style with an oval sapphire in the middle and two princess cut diamonds. It fit perfectly!
How did you feel after you had ordered your dress?
Thrilled!!! I wanted to go back everyday to keep trying it on!!! I even went to another salon about a month after I ordered it so that we could try on bridesmaid dresses but really, I knew that they stocked my dress and just wanted to see it again!!
What shoes did you wear?
I wore some silver t-bar vintage style heels from Aldo.
Did you struggle finding the right lingerie that worked with your dress?
I actually didn't wear a bra with my dress as I found the fit much better without and didn't have to worry about any straps showing. I just wore a lovely peachy lace pair of French knickers from M&S! I spent the money I saved on a fab new bikini for our honeymoon!
Who did your hair & make-up?
The lovely Lisa Cameron did my hair which was a relaxed up-do that complimented my large, floral, side tiara by Richard Designs. My make up was by the very talented Kristina from KF Make-up. I wanted a fairly natural look but with a nod to the vintage with some flicked out black eye liner.
What Traditions did you follow?
We did stick to some of the usual traditions. I had something old - my grandma's ring, new - my dress, borrowed - my grandma's ring and blue - the sapphire in my engagement ring.
I lost my dad three years ago so had my brothers walk me down the aisle and give me away - not quite the usual tradition but my dad would have been proud of them!
What was the funniest moment of the day?
My husband's brother was his best man and delivered THE best best-man's speech I've ever heard! I'm possibly biased but it was hilarious and people still talk about it to this day!!
Did your wedding have any unusual features?
We had a lot of hand-made touches throughout the day. From the ties for the groomsmen that were hand crocheted by my mum to the white and gold painted dinosaur planters that made up the table centres!!!
As my dad couldn't be there I also had a vintage locket with a picture of him in it attached to my bouquet.
What great piece of advice would you pass on to other brides who are planning their wedding (#weddinghacks)?
Get all the big things booked and sorted first, then you have plenty of time for all those tiny details that make the day about you. I got a little bit obsessed with Pinterest but it has some amazing ideas that you are then able to fit to your style! Also, If you keep people fed and watered, the day will run itself!
If you could do it all again what would you do differently?
I would do everything exactly the same - except if I could slow the day down somehow so that I could take it all in!!
Did you find organising your wedding an easy process?
Securing the venue of your dreams is probably the most difficult part. We knew we wanted to get married at Newton Hall and despite never even seeing it in the flesh, we managed to book a Saturday wedding the day we came back from getting engaged in Italy! We went to visit the weekend after and confirmed that this was the venue for us!
From then on I really enjoyed organising the rest of the wedding and managed to do things fairly slowly over the year. If you space things out and give yourself time, nothing seems rushed or stressful.
What will you do with your dress now?
It is currently hanging in my wardrobe where I can still swoon over it! But I will probably keep it in a box for any future daughters to play dress up in!
