Have you ever walked past a town hall and had to stop and stare at the beautiful bride emerging through the doors?

We are so jealous of the passers by who got a glimpse of Katie and her amazing city wedding!

Katie married Mark at Islington Town Hall, London on the 31st of May 2015, followed by a reception at The Doll's House.

And what better example to show the beauty and diversity of our Additions Range. The bride wore a lovely dress by Temperley Bridal, over which she layered our sequin-adorned Fayette Overdress, turning it from a simple gown to an absolute show stopper. She paired this with a flower crown to create a wonderfully ethereal look.

Describe the style of your wedding:
Informal City Celebration

What was your best experience when trying on dresses?
I actually bought a rather simple dress online and was happy with it, but when I went to The Bespoke Wardrobe in Ingatestone I fell in love with the sequinned Fayette Overdress. It was sparkly and not something I ever thought I would have, but I had to get married in it and returned the first dress. No other dress compared to the Fayette for me - I knew I had found the one!

What advice do you have for other brides shopping for their wedding dress?
Go with your heart - there is the perfect dress for each bride!

How did he propose?
Mark proposed on the Ponte Marcello in Venice on our 12 year anniversary. He proposed with Venetian silk to represent our 12 years together and tied it around my finger until we could choose the engagement ring.

How long did it take to plan your wedding?
We were married 6 months after we got engaged.

What shoes did you wear?
I wore simple nude shoes from Banana Republic. I made them into my 'something blue' by asking my bridal party to sign the sole in blue pen.

Who did your hair and make up?
My hair was by Felicity Thompson from Blowers Hair & Beauty. Everything from colour, cut and styling, my hair was everything I hoped for. I felt really special and still felt like me. My make up was by Claire Farrell - I have never felt more beautiful!

What was the funniest moment of the day?
My mother had organised for us to release two white doves. It was a great surprise and our faces in the photos says it all!

Did your wedding have any quirky features?
We had a welcome snack of nachos, which is slightly odd. It was a special pick by us, as Mark spilt nachos in my hair on our first date! The nachos kept our guests going, until the informal self serve style dinner.

We also had three wedding cakes - I'm not sure if that's quirky or greedy! They were created by Cake Stand and Crumb. There was a main Naked Cake, plus the groom's carrot cake and the bride's Oreo chocolate cake.

How did you feel walking down the aisle?
I just wanted to be by Mark's side. I knew that once I was I wouldn't be nervous anymore.

What piece of advice would you pass on to other brides who are planning their wedding (#WeddingHacks)?
Plan the wedding you want, not the wedding everyone else wants. It is the start of your marriage, make the beginning how you want it to be!

If you could do it all again what would you do differently?
Take my own advice from the question above! Remember not to stress about pleasing everyone.

Did you find organising your wedding an easy process?
We had a tricky hiccup of having to delay our wedding time due to The Arsenal Football parade and new ownership of our reception venue. However, both Islington Town Hall and The Doll's House were fantastic.

What will you do with your dress now?
I had it professionally cleaned and I like the idea of passing it on for someone else to enjoy!

Where did you go for your honeymoon?
The Greek Island of Santorini. Sun, sea and the most incredible sunsets - not to mention the amazing food and wine!

We really hope you enjoyed this week's Real Life Bride.
Have a great weekend!
