Presenting Charlie Brear's Friday Bride #10 (08/01/15)
Every Friday we kick off the weekend by featuring one of our fabulous brides, showcasing their wedding and, of course, their dress!
This week we spoke to Erica; who married John in May 2015 in Mijas, Spain. The bride wore our Payton dress with a hip sash.

Describe the style of your wedding:
We had a rather casual, summery wedding in Mijas in Spain.
What was your best experience when trying on dresses?
I actually went alone to Charlie Brear as I wanted to ensure that I was going with my gut feelings. Once I had chosen a few that I liked, I then brought my Mum and a bridesmaid along for validation! I just loved that it was very chilled out in Charlie Brear.
How did he propose?
My husband proposed on Jumeirah Beach in Dubai. We were holidaying in Dubai with my family and after a big family meal on December 30th, John decided that it would be nice to have a walk on the beach alone.
I was strolling along gazing at the skyscrapers and when I turned to make a comment, he was down on one knee. It was very private which I really liked, our only witnesses were two camels! He had a promise ring and we then went ring shopping the next day (he knows that I am quite fussy!)
What would your advice be to brides shopping for a wedding dress?
Try on as many styles as you can but make sure to go with your gut feeling. Also ensure that you are comfortable in the dress and that it flatters your shape.
How long did it take to plan your wedding?
We were engaged for a year and a half so we just did little bits and pieces over that time period. It took about a month to find the venue.
How did you feel after you had ordered your dress?
It was great to have such a big piece of the jigsaw ticked off the list and it was a little emotional.
What shoes did you wear?
Who took your fabulous wedding pictures?
What was the funniest moment of the day?
The first dance was quite funny as my husband isn't known to be a great dancer but we got some lessons from a lady called Edurne in Clapham at Vera the Diva dance classes and he simply stole the show on the day!
I would really recommend the dance lessons as they are really fun and amidst all the crazy planning, it is a great means of release!
What great pieces of advice would you pass on to other brides? (#weddinghacks)
Don't feel like you have to stick with tradition, go with exactly what you want! Don't be afraid to put your stamp on the day. Be as organised as you can, if you can do something right now, do it. The less things that are left to the last minute the better.
Treasure every single moment of the day, look around at all the people that are there with you to celebrate your happiness.
If you could do it all again what would you do differently?
I would relax more the night before. I kept worrying about silly things but luckily when I woke up on the day I was cool as a breeze!
Did you find organising your wedding an easy process?
I had a wedding planner, Kate from Fresh Tours, and she was fantastic. It was in Spain so she sourced the flowers, make up artist, photographer etc. It is a great investment and not too pricey if you are having a wedding away.
What are your best memories of the day?
When we left the church in our car to head to the reception, we both looked at each other and said 'Best Day Ever' and laughed.
We really hope you enjoyed this week's Real Life Bride.
Have a great weekend!
