Charlie Brear's eponymous ready-to-wear collection launched last season and was instantly labeled as one to watch. London Fashion Week Daily featured Brear as one of three presentations on the SS14 industry radar and WWD reported that -
“The clothes have clear commercial appeal, but that doesn’t undermine the vision and confidence that comes through in the tightly balanced palette. Gentle sporty touches play off the femininity and add an easy edge.”
Building on the success of her SS14 presentation Brear has taken the unorthodox step to present an edited collection for AW14 of 22 pieces / 12 looks that blend seamlessly on from many of the SS14 pieces that will remain in the collection “I want to continue to produce beautifully British made investment pieces that are trans-seasonal. Our customer is someone whom appreciates quality and cut and does not want to replace pieces that work for her, she wants to build on them”.With that in mind the collection presentation will show to buyers with an edit of the previous collection pieces and how to style them for AW14.
“Brear, knows that modern women no longer save some outfits for heels and an off-duty wardrobe for flats. So each piece has been designed to work high or low, day or night and for any eventuality.”Kay Barron- Fashion Features Director- Net a Porter
Fabrics, including cotton broderie anglaise, another nod to the collections trans-seasonal approach, leather and faux fur, were sourced in the United Kingdom and Europe, with key designs of woven jacquards and laces coming from Belgium and Italy. Standout, signature pieces include a luxurious midnight blue faux fur jacket, a pleated gold brocade dress and a perfectly cut petrol green ottoman skirt suit. Supporting British industry is important to Brear, who is producing and manufacturing the entire label in the UK.
